Artist, Spiderfish Studios
I’m based in the Bay Area and focus on exploring vulnerability and celebrating individuality with bold colors and an expressive style through my work. I believe art should feel personal, and curating a collection that speaks to you is important. The art in our space provides a backdrop to our lives, and when put together thoughtfully they can inspire our day-to-day.
My grandma inspired my interest in art. She was a professional, award-winning fine artist who had a home studio in Los Angeles that I rummaged through on visits while growing up. My style is very different, but I love using her old art supplies when creating my pieces.
I always took art lessons, and I started taking them regularly from a Bay Area studio from a young age where I eventually was asked to teach students. To this day, I still learn from other artists to constantly grow from an abundance of styles and perspectives.
Artist Statement
I developed an interest in the art of creating figure drawings from seeing my grandma’s growing up and wondering what mine would look like.
My own take on this classic and challenging subject matter was shaped by studying figure drawing in Paris as well as in Palo Alto, California. Today, I combine sketching, painting, and digital editing to create layered works that capture the quiet moments of individuals as they navigate life.
To me, figure drawings represent a state of authenticity and the balance between relatability and uniqueness. May this work serve as a reminder of our shared humanity that binds us in a world that can often feel divided.
